Strathwood Gibranta All-Weather Hardwood 2-Seater Bench with Cushion

Great price and style quality not high3

For $99 it is a great deal BUT it came with a crack in the wood in the arm and splintered wood on the inside of both arms. The box looked like it had been drop kicked from the factory & the foam they used to pack it was so low in quality that it was frittering from the impact of the damage and "snowed" all over our front porch when opened. It seems reasonably sturdy to sit on and was not hard to assemble. It sits low without the cushion so keep that in mind if you plan to go without the cushion. Attractive for the price but not nearly as nice as our $350 bench. More detail ...

2x4basics AnySize Chair or Bench Ends Green

worked well4

I needed two ten foot benches to fill an area on my patio. I purchased 3 sets of bench ends and used 3 bench ends per bench 1 on each end and 1 in the middle. It worked really well. The product specifies to use 2 x 4's for bench seat back and supports but I used 5/4" cedar decking for the seat and back and used 2 x 4's for the supports. This is a very reasonable cost way to have a lot of seating.More detail ...

2x4basics AnySize Table or Low Bench Green

Very Sturdy Well Made5

These are great as benches. I would not suggest making them more than five feet long however. The instructions say you can make them up to eight feet long but as a bench this would only work if no one ever sat in the middle and I can't imagine why anyone would want an eight foot long table that was 15-inches wide. I made four benches each four feet long. I used pressure treated lumber and the hardware provided. Assembly was easy and the finished product looked and worked just as I expected. Be advised the finished furniture is quite heavy.More detail ...

Suncast PB6700 Patio Bench

Not too shabby4

Not a bad product quite sturdy for being made of plastic and all the pieces simply snapping together. DON'T ASSEMBLE IT IF THE PIECES ARE COLD I shattered two pieces trying after the shipping box was in single digit weather overnight. Let it warm up first!

Cedar Garden Bench

Cedar Garden Bench3

This product comes as a kit so you need a little carpentry skill to assemble it. It was not particularly hard to put together but I wouldn't attempt it if I had little or no prior experience with building wood items. The pieces were well made and fit well but the instructions were poorly copied and hard to read and the illustrations were not the best. I suggest you use a power screwdriver for the assembly. After assembly however it is very nice looking although lightweight (the wind blew it over once or twice).More detail ...

The Rumford Gardener JBI2000 Gardener's Kneeler/Seat

One of the handiest things around for bad knees and backs.5

Just about everybody over the age of thirty has some kind of issue with knee and/or back pain esp. when you want to do seasonal clean-ups inside or out.

I was kind of flabbergasted when I was on my hands and knees cleaning the bathroom floor and my knees...hurt!...just from kneeling on the tile. I bought this device to help with that chore and it's a lifesaver. It's made for outdoor use (and it's one of the sturdiest things I've ever bought) but for me it's been wonderful for indoor cleaning.

The reviews here are excellent so I don't want to reinvent that wheel. There are just two things I'd add from my own observations; that is things you might not know until you actually order and get this kneeler.

First of all the yellow pad is on both sides it's not just padded one one side. Now as it's show in this picture it's something to sit on. If you burn it upside down so the yellow pads are a few inches off the floor behold! It's a kneeler! The metal "arms" that become long when you flip it over are extremely sturdy. If you have problems working on the floor and getting up they'll hold your weight easily and make getting off the floor a breeze (you don't even have to be kneeling ON it to use it as a sturdy prop to stand up.)

The other thing is that the device is folded up when you get it. To use it you just open one "leg" then the other. Some folks seem to have problems folding it back up (very easy to store.) To do this look for the springs on each side. There is a metal bar that runs perpendicular to the springs. Grasp the bar AND the spring section and squeeze. It's very resilient. You don't have to force the two bars together but just enough to loosen the knobs that click into place when you open the device. When you squeeze (and yes it's a bit hard if you're a woman) push the arm down and one half is folded. Do the same with the other side and you're done. (To open it just open each arm. It locks into place with no effort.)

You don't have to be an AARP member to find this device to be incredibly useful. I bought two: one for indoors and one for outside stuff. I absolutely recommend it if you find that your glucosamine and chondroitin tablets are taking awhile to kick in with that knee pain!More detail ...

Strathwood St. Thomas Cast Aluminum 2-Seater Loveseat with Cushion

Beautiful Piece Great Bargain5

This is an absolutely beautiful piece of outdoor furniture and at an incredibly reasonable price. Other merchants would charge the same price for just the 5" thick beautifully upholstered seat cushion. The loveseat arrives fully assembled - just unwrap the plastic and padding put the cushion on and sit down! I bought the matching chairs and they are just as lovely. I will be watching for more furniture items from this company.More detail ...

2x4basics AnySize Table or Low Bench Sand

Great afternoon picnic table and benches project5

I purchased 8 benches - 4 for our house and 4 as house warming gifts for friends who relocated to the country. These benches were a breeze to put together. After thinking it over I decided to incorporate 2x6s in place of 2x4s where I could to prevent warping. 2x6 lumber fits perfect into this construction. I've attached photos above - check 2x6 construction. the 2x4 braces below make for solid shake-free benches. I sanded and finished mine with three coats of Thompsons "Honey Gold" tint Watersealant. After this summer and winter in OK I'll report back on how well these held up. All construction so far has been 6 feet long.

You have to realize it's wood you're working with and prepare accordingly. Measure to get the most of each cut from the length wood you buy. I purchased #2 Douglas Fir - it's a bit stronger than framing lumber.

Gardman R616 Foldaway Garden Kneeler Seat

Great product5

This is a great product. It is relatively light weight and it folds nicely for storage. It's better than a plain kneeling pad because you're off the ground just a bit and the side handles make it easier to get up and down (my wife and I are both in our late 60's and getting up and down ain't that easy any more :-). When you turn it over it is a great seat so you can use if for kneeling when you're planting and then turn it over to use as a seat when pruning or if you just want to rest. It is very well constructed and very sturdy.More detail ...

2x4basics AnySize Chair or Bench Ends Sand

Good idea good product5

I just finished assembling a 2x4basics AnySize Bench 11200 and am very happy with it. The bench assembly took a little longer than I thought it would. I think I worked on it for about two hours. I wasn't counting on having to drill pilot holes for the dozens of screws (included) that had to be used putting the bench together. Nor did I figure on spending so much time figuring out how to best sink the screws into the underside of the boards. Don't worry about slanting the screws into the wood a bit. It is impossible to get a drill into a perfect position for making a 90 degree hole. Most of the screws do not show anyhow.

It was necessary to tip the bench over in order drill pilot holes and to get at the screws. I had to clamp the 2x4's to the plastic/composite ends to keep them from falling off or moving out of position. I would recommend using a couple of small carpentry clamps to hold things in place while putting the bench together.

I had the 2x4's sanded and painted prior to attaching them to the plastic/composite ends so that took a little time but probably not more than an additional hour. That probably saved time in the long run. Making this bench with the 2x4 basics kit is not a difficult project.

The 2x4 basics bench is solid and not all that heavy but it isn't going to blow over in a high wind. I am quite satisfied with how the bench came out and somewhat surprised at how substantial it is. I thought it might twist and perhaps wiggle side to side--nope it is a rock.

I am so pleased with this approach to building patio furniture that I will be recommending the product to friends.

Strathwood All-Weather Hardwood 3-Seater Bench

Love it!5

I was a bit wary of ordering this without a photo -- but I'm so glad I went ahead and took the plunge! It's similar in design to the other Strathmore wood benches on Amazon -- horizontal slats across the back and seat with wood arms and legs. Assembly was simple and the delivery was fast. We plan on giving the bench a coat of water sealer before sitting it outside in order to protect the color (which is a very pretty brownish/red). The bench is comfortable without a cushion though you certainly could add one if you wanted. It's a "true" three-seater bench -- even if the three "seats" are big ones however I'd be hesitant to put three really large people on it as there is no center support brace on the bottom (I'd put the lightest person in the middle). All in all this seems to be a great bench and the price is fantastic especially considering that the shipping is free (or was when I got it). Not having to pick it up at a store and struggle to get it in and out of a car was wonderful.More detail ...
